A COSY CABIN KITCHEN Project by HUNTING FOR GEORGE
CDK Stone was thrilled to collaborate with Hunting for George on their latest renovation adventure, transforming an 80s kitchen in their cosy timber cabin. This project, led by visionary founder Lucy Glade-Wright and her partner Jonno Rodd, resulted in a truly unique kitchen that marries the charm of a rustic retreat with the elegance of contemporary design and trending hues. The kitchen’s benchtops, graced with Mirage Lake Quartzite, feature striking blues and greens that work with a variety of materials and finishes, crafting a space that feels invitingly lived-in rather than a pristine, ultra-modern kitchen. After more than a year of dedicated effort, this transformation beautifully illustrates how even the most overlooked areas can be revitalised into stunning, captivating spaces.
Having selected most of the finishes, the team at Hunting for George embarked on the quest for the perfect centrepiece stone for their kitchen benchtop. They sought a piece that would harmonise exquisitely with their sage green cabinetry, brass handles, and creamy white splashback tiles. With timber benchtops originally decided for the space, Lucy was uncertain of the type of stone she was after until finding the enchanting Mirage Lake Quartzite. Instantly captivated by its natural beauty, it was swiftly installed, seamlessly uniting all the kitchen’s elements into a stunning cohesive design.

A symphony of metals, including brass cabinet hardware, silver nickel tapware, and gold shelf fittings, highlights the stone’s reddish-gold veins, crafting an aura of unmatched elegance. The sleek black rangehood and induction cooker further enhance the vibrant hues of Mirage Lake Quartzite, transforming this cosy cabin kitchen into a vivid tapestry of colour and character.
